Green Tea and Weight Loss
Green Tea and Weight Loss Linked
Green tea's reputation continues to grow. Not only does Green Tea (a major ingredient in CortiSlim and Cortisyn) aid Weight Loss, but is it a potent antioxidant, but it is a metabolic enhancer as well. The antioxidants in green tea are polyphenols, known as catechins, which possess much more potent antioxidant activity than well know antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E.
A particularly important catechin, EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate), may also aid in weight loss by increasing daily calorie expenditure, a Green Tea and Weight Loss link, enhancing fat metabolism and reducing fat absorption.
We have all heard of antioxidants but what exactly are they? Well, simply put, they scavenge free radicals in your body. Green Tea and Weight Loss releases free radicals. Free radicals are oxygen atoms with seven electrons, searching for their eighth electron. In looking for this eighth electron, they attach themselves to something – in our case- body tissues, in order to stabilize themselves.
In doing this, they produce yet another free radical, and so on and so on. This process does damage to our cells and is thought to be the cause of many degenerative diseases. What antioxidants do is scavenge those free radicals and neutralize them, thereby protecting the cells in our body from accelerated aging, and diseases such as cancer.
The presence of a particular catechin in green tea called EGCG (Epigallocatechin Gallate) has been shown to help dieters lose weight. In a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, it was reported that subjects who were given green tea had an increase in daily energy expenditure; in other words, they burned more calories.
The effect was not linked to the small amounts of caffeine in the tea, since some subjects received caffeine but not green tea and they didn't have any change in their energy expenditure. Green tea works without increasing your heart rate, thereby eliminating those jitters!
The catechins in green tea may also work with other chemicals to increase levels of fat oxidation and thermogenesis (the process in which the body burns fuel such as fat to create heat) What does that mean for dieters?
Drink up Green Tea and , speed up your metabolism (Weight Loss), and get healthy at the same time!
